If your instructor has given you a computer assignment, know the name of the language or software package you are expected to use. Always bring any notes or materials you've been given for the computer assignment.

Why do I need to have a valid ID and swipe in?
The reason you need to have an ID is to confirm that you are enrolled at Hofstra and that you have paid for your classes. The only way we can know this is by checking for valid ID; we'd like to be able to take your word for it, but you need to have ID.

What exactly do you mean by valid ID?
A valid ID:
- Has your picture and name on it, and says "Hofstra University."
- Is a validated bill (with the Bursar's stamp on it) and a driver's license (or other picture ID). A copy of your validated bill may be obtained from Financial and Academic Records, second floor, Memorial Hall.
- Is a Hofstra Alumni Card or courtesy (guest) pass accompanied by photo ID. (Guest passes are available weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Calkins Lab.)
|

Can my friend come in? They won't touch anything, I promise.
No. If they do not have a valid ID, they CANNOT enter the lab. You can obtain a guest pass for your friend in Calkins Lab weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

What else should I know about using the computer labs?
