The Student Computing Advisory Committee is a council of students that provide recommendations and ideas for new technology-based services at Hofstra. The council began last fall when the technology fee was initiated. The technology fee insures that Hofstra students will have ready-access to the latest technologies for teaching and learning.
The Student Computing Advisory Committee has discussed such topics as:
Where should wireless computing access points be placed on campus?
What new computing services are required in the resident halls?
How can we prevent the spread of viruses?
Should the University fund music downloads on campus?
How are copyright infringements handled on campus?
Many other interesting topics !
Student Computing Services reviews the recommendations from this group, discovers what resources are required to provide the service and develops plans to deliver the new services. Our wireless network locations, training lab, and portal services are just a few of the recommendations made by the group that we have implemented. We would like to hear what you think we could do to improve services for students.
Next meeting of the Student Computing Advisory Committee:
