| An international study abroad experience benefits students by preparing them for a successful career in our expanding global economy. It does this by fostering an outlook that emphasizes the ties among nations and cultures. It also enhances career preparation by teaching valuable cross-cultural and workplace skills that are critical to today's employers. Much of the valuable experience obtained from studying abroad comes from coping with the challenges of and learning to adapt to a foreign environment. Living in another country fosters patience, changes attitudes, develops maturity and self-confidence, and enhances understanding of our complex world. A carefully chosen international study abroad program contributes not only to one's academic success and future career goals but to personal growth as well. At Hofstra University, we pride ourselves on the diverse selection of study abroad programs taught by our esteemed faculty. Hofstra offers various study abroad program lengths: from a semester, to a full year, or during the winter or summer sessions. Students can choose from a diverse range of programs that have been developed over the years by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, New College, and the Frank G. Zarb School of Business. Whether students choose to study in order to enhance their level of a specific language or culture, or to expand their knowledge of a specific concentration, we can find a program to meet each student's unique and individual needs. Students who are interested in studying abroad should begin by researching the wide selection of Hofstra programs available to them. Click on the Summary of Programs link on the left side of this page in order to obtain a listing of each Hofstra program by semester, or click on a specific country of interest. If you do not find a program within a country of interest, or in a specific discipline, please feel free to meet with a study abroad coordinator to find out more about options available to you. By working closely with a study abroad coordinator, you can research international study abroad programs that are run through government agencies as well as other universities. |
