Academic Affairs

The Academic Affairs division, under the direction of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Liora P. Schmelkin, Ph..D., is responsible for overseeing academic class scheduling and course registration procedures; oversight of effectiveness and quality of instruction; objective appraisal of the instructional staff (Course and Teacher Ratings); the various course offerings of each of the academic units of the University, and the Office for University Advisement.

Dr. Schmelkin is the liaison to the New York State Education Department to register/re-register all academic programs. She is also responsible for accreditation reviews as well as the evaluation of new and continuing academic programs.

Additionally, Dr. Schmelkin hosts the New Faculty Orientation, Chair's Breakfast, Make Things Happen Seminars and serves as Advisor to the Graduate Academic Affairs Committee, Undergraduate Academic Affairs Committee, Athletic Policy Committee, and the Faculty Affairs Committee of the University Senate. Dr. Schmelkin is also the Advisor to the Graduate Director's Committee.
