Hofstra Chapter of NAACP presents

Dr. Edward Jackson, Jr., Executive Architect of the Dr. Martin Luther King Monument in Washington, D.C. Dr. Jackson will speak and show archives regarding the design and construction processes of the MLK monument from beginning to end.

Original Work by Prof. Nkeiru Okoye Helps Hofstra Celebrate
African American History Month

Join Hofstra’s Department of Music and friends for a ride on the Underground Railroad. This musical journey include performances by the Hofstra University Chamber Choir, members of the Hofstra Symphony Orchestra, the Hempstead High School Select Chorale, soprano Diana Solomon-Glover, contralto Nicole Mitchell, tenor Robert Anthony Mack, and pianist Roy Eaton, the definitive master of Scott Joplin’s ragtime works. 

The concert is hosted by composer and Hofstra Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Nkeiru Okoye and features music from her original opera, Songs of Harriet Tubman, as well as world premieres and familiar works also centered around themes of freedom and courage. | more |
