Description: Hofstra University is conducting a search for the position of Assistant Dean of Graduate Admission. The Assistant Dean will support the Dean of International Recruitment and Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Admission to attract and enroll the most qualified graduate students, with a particular emphasis on international students. This position will have specific geographic and programmatic assignments for recruitment and application review. This individual is expected to develop and implement enrollment strategies, and evaluate and report outcomes with analytical, fiscal, and other regular and ad hoc reports to inform the administration and improve processes.

The candidate will manage an international recruitment territory within the framework of the university’s enrollment targets consistent with the mission and annual objectives of the Office of Graduate Admission. The Assistant Dean will work collaboratively with staff in the International Student Affairs and across academic departments to develop, execute and evaluate recruitment plans. This position will involve developing relationships with overseas university officials and education consultants. Travelling regionally, nationally & internationally is required as well as representing Hofstra at education fairs, universities and advising centers.

Valid driver’s license and passport are required. Evening and weekend hours may be required in support of special projects and events.



Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Two to three years of recruitment experience within higher education is required. Working with international student populations is required and at least one year of experience working with graduate students is preferred. Demonstrated multicultural competency and a commitment to recruit a diverse student population is necessary. Knowledge of SEVIS and federal rules & regulations governing F and J Visas is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills and the ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with other areas within the University, particularly with members of the Dean’s Office, Department Chairs and Program Directors. Excellent organizational, administrative and customer service skills required as is a demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fluid, fast-paced environment. Must have excellent computer skills and be highly proficient in the latest word processing, presentation and data analysis software (e.g., Microsoft Suite).
