Faculty Position in History

Hofstra University’s department of History invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in US history with a specialization in any period of African-American history, to begin in Fall 2017. Candidates must be qualified to teach a two-semester African-American history survey and introductory courses in US History from the colonial period to the twentieth century, in addition to advanced courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Course load is typically 3 courses per semester (9 s.h.). Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant discipline by the time of appointment. In addition to evidence of scholarly promise and achievement, significant classroom experience and excellence in teaching—together with commitment to the creation of innovative courses attracting a diverse student body—are strongly preferred.
