Program Details

Evolutionary Ecology and Geology
of the Galápagos Islands and Ecuador 2008 (and again in 2009)
X Session: January 7th - 25th

Eligibility

Undergraduate and graduate students from Hofstra and other American universities are all invited to apply.

Housing

Please note that this is a rugged excursion and that housing will be based on two occupants per room; in the jungle some cabin rooms may be shared by three or four people.

Cost

The program fee of $3700 includes: Round-trip airfare from LGA to Quito, Ecuador, transfers between airports and hotels, all program-related transportation, a one-week yacht tour (including full meals, accommodation in double cabins with private bath), a four-day/three-night rain forest excursion (including meals and accommodation), hotel accommodations in Quito and Puerto Ayora (including breakfast), and day trips that are part of the program itinerary.

Expenses not included in the program fee: four lunches, four dinners, some beverages, personal expenses, park entry fees ($120), Ecuador departure tax ($10), tips and gratuities for local guides ($150). University course credit is additional; you must register for course credit or course-audit separately with Hofstra University.

Application Deadline

Prices are estimates and subject to change.

A $1000 non-refundable pre-payment deposit is due Jan 1, 2007 for Jan 2008 trip (Jan 1, 2008 for 2009 trip).
The remaining payment of $2700 is due in full by June 15, 2007 for Jan 2008 trip (June 15, 2008 for 2009 trip).
