Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library
The Axinn Library with approximately 1,200,000 volumes is the largest on Long Island, utilizing cutting-edge electronic research and offering research assistance to students by qualified and knowledgeable librarians seven days a week. The Axinn Library also contains over 35 special collections, an extensive video library and media services, as well as the Hofstra Museum Collections.
The Howard L. and Muriel Weingrow Collection of Avant-Garde Art and Literature
The world famous Weingrow Collection of Avant-Garde Art and Literature at Hofstra University is a collection of 4,000 works documenting the major art movements of the 20th century, such as Dada, Surrealism, Cubism, Expressionism and later avant-garde manifestations, such as Lettrism, Situationism, Fluxus, and Situationism.
This rare livres d'artiste foundation document and manuscript collection has been utilized by specialist scholars under such rubrics as NEH-sponsored seminars for college teachers, but is also available to the focused graduate student who wants to embark on cutting edge, original scholarship concerning the verbal and visual arts in their various manifestations and cultural contexts.
