Physician's Assistant Program

Mission and Goals

The mission of the Hofstra University Physician Assistant Studies Program is to educate qualified students to meet the challenges of providing primary health care services under the supervision of a licensed Physician in medically under-served areas.

Specific goals are:

  1. To foster compassion, dedication and competence in the provision of patient care.
  2. To place an emphasis on the development of judgement, reasoning, flexibility of mind, and insight into human behavior as opposed to the mere acquisition of information and skills.
  3. To educate the student with the requisite medical knowledge and skill sets to function as a health care professional.
  4. To sensitize the student to cultural and socioeconomic factors that impact health care needs.
  5. To treat students in a fair and compassionate manner throughout the educational process.
  6. To instill a desire in the student to pursue continued, lifelong medical education and to develop the powers of self-education.
