Radio, Television, Film

At Hofstra University’s Department of Radio, Television, Film you will learn the art and craft of creative storytelling in radio, video/television, film and new media through programs designed to prepare students for the challenges that await them in the dynamic, transformative world of mediated communication.

Our students have access to a rich variety of resources including:

  • Award-winning faculty who are industry experts, working professionals, and accomplished scholars, including Emmy Award winners, groundbreaking documentary and feature filmmakers, radio personalities, writers, editors, and producers.
  • State-of-the-art television, film and radio facilities including two studios and student-run radio station, WRHU 88.7 FM Radio Hofstra University, in which to work and learn, as early as the first year
  • Unparalleled real-world experience on and off-campus, including hundreds of internship opportunities within 25 miles of New York City, the media capital of the U.S.

With programs that combine a strong liberal arts framework with the latest media technology, our students are taught to think critically as they explore countless opportunities to express themselves creatively and prepare for professional careers as the next generation of communication leaders.

Demystifying Media and Design Careers

Co-sponsored by the Radio, Television, Film Department and the Fine Arts Department.

Our students gain experience in the biggest media market in the U.S.

The RTVF Internship Program encourages students to excel at their talents.

"My internship provides me with real-world understanding of the professional industry in which I hope to pursue my career. One of the most beneficial aspects is being surrounded by creative professionals who gladly share their expertise with students who are eager to learn more. It makes me even more enthusiastic to join the professional world."
