Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapy

Annual Conference

The Creative Arts Therapy Program designs and offers an annual day-long conference. The theme varies but each conference is designed to meet the needs of students, alumni, and supervisors of related therapeutic disciplines. Invitations and notices are sent out to people in the NY Metropolitan Area making the attendees a diverse group.

This year’s conference was entitled, “Therapists’ Self-Disclosure – Finding the Balance,” Keynote speakers were Steven Kuchuck, LCSW, NCPsyA, LP and Janos Marton, M.F.A., Ph.D.

This conference offers a combination of academic experiences. Well-known experienced key-note speakers and workshop leaders complement each other with their variety of presentations. Their topics address current relevant themes and enlighten the day.

The agenda begins with a keynote speaker followed by discussion groups, workshops, media displays, Stern’s book distributors and a special session on the NYS bill which, when signed this year, will license Creative Arts Therapists. With lunch and the companionship of others in our community, we have the ingredients for an enjoyable day.

Keynote speakers in the past five years have included Edith Kramer, Helen Landgarten, Madeline Rugh, Carol Cox, Gusty Lange, Ani Buk, Bruce Moon, Cathy Moon, Cathy Malchiodi, Irene Rosner-David and Judith Rubin.

The backdrop for the conference will be our beautiful spring campus.
