Certificate of Advanced Study: School District Business Leader

Program Requirements

The program consists of 15 or 38 credits, depending on prior education and certification status.

Option 1: For applicants who have not completed an approved administrative certification program, the program requires 38 credits, distributed as follows:

EADM 260   Leading Learning Organizations, 6 s.h.
EADM 261   Building Learning Communities, 6 s.h.
EADM 264A  Framing Problems and Making Decisions, 4 s.h.
EADM 266   Educational Program Development, Delivery, and Assessment, 4 s.h.
EADM 270   School District Business Operations and Contract Management, 6 s.h.
EADM 272   School District Business Fiscal Planning and Management, 6 s.h.
EADM 313   Administrative Internship: School District Business Leader, 6 s.h.
Total   38 credits

Option 2: For applicants who have completed certificate programs in approved programs and currently hold certification as School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL), the program requires 15 credits, distributed as follows:

EADM 270   School District Business Operations and Contract Management, 6 s.h.
EADM 272   School District Business Fiscal Planning and Management, 6 s.h.
Total   15 credits
Note: EADM 270 and 272 may be taken in any sequence.

Other SDBL Certification Requirements:
Prior to graduation, candidates must have completed a minimum of 3 credits in Government Fund Accounting or the equivalent, at the graduate or undergraduate level.

Before they can be recommended for SDBL certification, applicants must be fingerprinted and show evidence of having completed the following: two hours of training in school violence prevention and intervention, two hours of training in substance abuse, and two hours of training in the identification and reporting of suspected child abuse and maltreatment.

Internship Requirements
In addition to course work, depending on prior certification, administrative candidates complete from 300 to 600 hours of supervised internships. These placements take place in district offices.
