About the program

This advanced certificate is intended to prepare educators to work as agents of change within educational communities.  The program blends on-campus preparation with field experiences in a variety of settings and leads toward an advanced certificate in coaching and mentoring. Courses are intended to introduce students to the research on adult learning theories and practices in order to prepare them to mentor educators and serve as either staff developers, coaches, or agents of change within an educational institution. The courses emphasize assisting teachers in creating and analyzing curriculum, instruction, and assessment in light of emerging pedagogies to fully engage teachers as active learners, questioners, and problem-solvers.  Graduates are well equipped to serve their districts and communities by supporting a wide spectrum of professionals, from novice teachers to veteran peers, all committed to the success of their students.
