Research in my lab focuses on the systematics and biology of marine polychaete worms and crustaceans. Currently I am investigating the associates of hermit crabs, particularly shell-burrowing polychaete worms and isopod parasites. A variety of marine invertebrates live as commensals or parasites of hermit crabs and my studies attempt to more accurately define the interactions in this unique marine system. Research in the Indo-West Pacific has led to the description of new polychaete and isopod species as well as the first report of egg predation by polydorid worms on host hermit crabs.
