Music and Astronomy Under the Stars

Bringing Astronomy to the Public
Free Star-gazing at Music Concerts and Festivals

Dr. Donald Lubowich, Coordinator of the Astronomy Outreach Program at Hofstra University, will give concertgoers a spectacular glimpse of the heavens. This NASA–sponsored program will include observations of the Sun prior to the concerts and the Moon, planets, multi-colored double stars, star clusters, and nebulae at intermission and after the concerts – combined with videos, posters, hands-on-activities, and the sounds of the Sun The Amateur Observers' Society of New York is a partner with this program. Music and Astronomy Under the Stars has been funded by a generous grant from the Long Island Sierra Club, which promotes science as a way to connect with our natural world.
