Internship
The Hofstra University programs in Clinical Psychology and Combined Clinical & School Psychology (the latter of which is no longer admitting students since 2007) are new to the APPIC match process. The data presented below reflect the first groups of Combined program students whom have been through the match. We believe that as our students continue to serve as interns at APA settings the strength of Hofstra applicants will be increasingly recognized. Supervisor feedback regarding Hofstra students has been extremely positive. It is important that applicants be aware of a national discrepancy in which there are a greater number of internship candidates than available settings. When not matched at an APA accredited setting, some students choose to go to an alternative, non-accredited setting. In order to be helpful to students, our program faculty do not require an APA accredited internship in order to complete graduation requirements. No data are reported in the first three years of the tables below as the program did not begin APPIC match participation until the 2008-2009 academic year.
