1) How many credits is the M. A. program?

i. The M. a. program for Speech-Language Pathology is 53 credits
ii. The M. A. program for Speech-Language Pathology with Teacher Certification is 58 credits
iii. The bilingual extension includes all requirements for ii) above plus an additional 6 credits for a total of 64 credits

2) How long does it take to complete the M.A?

The full-time M. A. program for options i) and ii) takes 2 years including 2 winter sessions and 1 summer session.

Students doing the program on a part-time basis can expect the program to be extended by 1-2 semesters.

3) What are the requirements for applying to the program?

i. B.A. in Communication Sciences and disorders, or the appropriate prerequisite course work;
ii. Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0;
iii. GREs taken within 5 years prior to application;
iv. Three academic (faculty) letters from the undergraduate program or from instructors of prerequisite course work;
v. Personal statement of no more than 500 words.

4) Is it possible to complete the M.A. program on a part-time basis?

Yes. However, students are encouraged to complete at least 6 semester hours each semester, including summers. The degree must be completed within 5 years.

5) How should I go about registering for prerequisite courses?

Submit an application for non-matriculated status, available from the Office of Graduate Admissions.
