The Department of Information Technology and Quantitative Methods (IT/QM) offers cutting-edge Information Technology, Business Analytics and Quality Management programs which embrace an educational culture that combines excellence in teaching and research with dynamic industry-university collaborations.
Our approach to Information Technology and Business Analytics education integrates theory with practical applications and significant work experiences.
Both the undergraduate and graduate programs are developed by the faculty to fulfill the current demands of business. The department courses and curricula also maintain a future-oriented direction. This ensures that students are well prepared for sustaining careers in information technology and business analytics.
We also offer non-degree accredited certificate programs in Business Information Systems. The programs are offered at two different levels for students who have attained either bachelor or master degrees.

The IT/QM department is home to an IT Executive Board of Visitors. This Board is made up of senior executives who are well known in the field. These senior-level executives provide ‘one to one’ personalized mentoring to our majors and minors. They are a source of inspiration for our students.
Students who major or minor in our department are members of the Hofstra Information Technology Association (HITA). The club provides consulting services to the community. Completed projects have provided web development, social network implementation and business analytic services. Areas. Currently HITA students are tutoring elementary through high school students in web development, database, cloud computing and business analytics.
Our department maintains two state of the art dedicated labs: 1) Network and Security and 2) Enterprise Systems Applications. In the Network and Security lab hands-on courses in local area networks, network security and defense and wireless networks are taught. The enterprise applications lab supports instruction in contemporary software solutions.
The academic partnerships with Cisco Networking Academy, Oracle, and Microsoft provide further opportunities for building knowledge and industry level skills.
This past summer, we began our CISCO network and security certification workshop. Many students who took the CISCO workshop this summer have already passed the CISCO certification exams.
We are one of two universities in the New York metro area that is a member of the SAP University Academic Alliance. This enables students to use the same enterprise systems that fortune 500 companies and their trading partners use in business. Students gain a deep understanding of how these solutions are used to manage organizations.
Students are taught by faculty who have attained the highest degree in their field and, in many cases, have significant business experience. Our faculty conducts award-winning research in Information Systems, Healthcare Information Technology, Management Planning Systems, and Business Analytics. In addition, we are a global faculty that comes from all over the world.
