Jill Anderson
Pre-Physician Assistant
(Pre-P.A.)
"I chose Hofstra because I like the the range of majors offered here. Originally, I wanted to be a Communications major, but then I changed majors and probably will go into pediatrics. I also wanted a medium to large college, which Hofstra is with 13,000 students." Her favorite thing about Hofstra is the overall look of its 240 acres of greenery and gardens. "I really like the campus. It's gorgeous." Favorite professor? "Professor Hedstrom, who teaches speech communications. He's really laid-back, and his class is more group discussions and readings [than lectures]."
Jill, who also serves as social co-chair of the Newman Club, feels that the diversity of the Hofstra student body is another benefit. "I think diversity is important," she said, adding that "about 45 percent of the students are from other states."
Her biggest challenge at Hofstra so far? "Learning to live with someone else in the dorm. It was hard the first year finding the right roommate. And learning to get help in chemistry. I found out Hofstra has a good tutoring lab." She added, "Most of my classes are average-sized, but organic chemistry has eight people, and that's definitely a plus."
