Rich Vizziello
Finance Major
One key reason Rich chose Hofstra was the University's flexibility in course selection. "I can take accounting and marketing courses, even though I'm a finance major," he says. Rich - who is considering a career in real estate or the stock market, with an eye toward ultimately entering politics - is also very interested in the M.B.A. program at the Zarb School of Business.
A resident student whose home is in Connecticut, Rich says, "As a finance major, having New York City nearby is definitely a plus - but I didn't want to live in the city. I wanted a campus setting." Among the many features he likes about Hofstra, says Rich, are its faculty, the small class sizes, the diverse student body, and the numerous extracurricular activities from which to choose. "The professors are extraordinary and always willing to spend time with you after class," he notes. Addressing the importance of student diversity, he observes, "It's good to get a feel for how the real world is."
Rich is active in the Newman Club. His favorite professor is Louis Papa in the Department of Accounting, Taxation and Legal Studies in Business. "I like teachers like Professor Papa who tell stories," he says. "We can learn so much from their experiences."
