Wendy C. Silverman, M.S., CCC-SLP, joined the staff of Hofstra's Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences Department as clinic director in January 2002. She is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Buffalo and a Master of Science degree from the University of Michigan. She was a speech-language pathologist at United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau County and the International Center for the Disabled (ICD), where she cultivated a special interest in cognitive rehabilitation. For 11 years, she was employed at "Transitions of Long Island," a multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation center, as coordinator of speech-language therapy services and case manager. She has performed numerous administrative tasks designed to improve the quality of care for individuals with disabilities. She has been a frequent guest lecturer at area universities and a presenter at state and national conferences.

Melissa Kern Fitzgerald, M.A., CCC-SP, is coordinator of speech-language services in the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic as well as an adjunct instructor teaching "Advanced Seminar: Management of Communication Disorders." She received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Louisiana State University and a Master of Arts in Speech Pathology from Hofstra. She has received the certificate of clinical competence granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and holds current New York state licensure. She has more than 11 years of professional experience, with a concentration in adult neurogenic communication disorders.

Rose N. Valvezan, Au.D. FAAA, CCC-A, has been the coordinator of audiological services at the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic since January 2005. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from New York University in May 1979 and a Master of Science in Audiology from Adelphi University in May 1982. She recently completed a Doctor of Audiology degree in July 2005 from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences. Other professional accomplishments include being named a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and earning a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She spent the first 10 years of her career as a clinician in hospital settings. Prior to working at Hofstra she spent 11 years serving as a clinical supervisor, coordinator of services and clinical adjunct professor in audiology at Adelphi University. Her areas of interest include diagnostics and electrophysiological measurements of hearing.

Denise Ruscio M.S. CCC, is a full-time clinical supervisor in the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. She received her Bachelor's degree from Queens College, and her Master of Science degree from Adelphi University. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association, is certified to practice Speech-Language Pathology in New York State, and holds the Teacher of Speech-Hearing Handicapped license. For more than 20 years, she has practiced in a variety of roles and settings. At the university level, she has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses and has supervised graduate clinicians in university clinics. She has also worked as a speech-language pathologist in a private practice, school settings, and as an early intervention provider of speech-language therapy for Nassau County Department of Health.
