The Center for Teaching and Scholarly Excellence invites all faculty to a Brown-Bag-Lunch Discussion:
Wednesday, September 17, 2008
11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Hofstra Hall Parlor
Because a Presidential Debate is being held at Hofstra this semester, faculty have a special opportunity to encourage students to be involved as citizens and interested in the world around them. Does this opportunity apply to faculty who teach in disciplines that don’t, at first glance, seem to be particularly related to United States politics? What are our responsibilities to our students under the circumstances? How could we make the connection to “unrelated” disciplines? Come discuss these and related issues over lunch. The discussion will be led by CTSE Associate Director, Professor Carol Fletcher, Department of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations.
Please bring your lunch. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be served.
An RSVP is not necessary; all are welcome.
