Wednesday, October 10, 2007
11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Axinn Library -10th Floor
Dr. Green, Dr. Forman, and Dr. Moore were recipients of Special Teaching Leaves during the 2006-2007 academic year. In this program they will present the research they did during their leaves. They will also answer questions about the application process for receiving a Special Teaching Leave.
Dr. Green will discuss researching and designing two new courses which he had never offered before. For a political fiction seminar he read over twenty novels and screened films to design a course syllabus and plan. For a course on international law and organization, he researched topics to be covered, surveyed possible texts, and wrote lectures for the course.
Dr. Forman will discuss the development of a new course designed to reflect the increasing importance of marketing in the public and non-profit sectors. His presentation will give an overview of the rationale for the course, its stated objectives, and the teaching methods and tools that are being employed to achieve these objectives.
Dr. Moore will demonstrate several types of classroom approaches in a collaborative setting using the Blackboard course management system. Learning objects used in marketing and international business courses are presented as illustrations. The objects focus on the export/import channel of distribution, developments in the foreign exchange markets, and international marketing entrepreneurship fostering sustainable development.
Lunch will be served.
