Evaluation of Initiatives in Educational Technique at Hofstra University
Mission
The primary objectives of the evaluation efforts conducted by the Center for Teaching and Scholarly Excellence (CTSE) are to:
- support the ongoing efforts to enhance both Faculty teaching and Student learning;
- support individual Faculty members in better understanding how their choice of teaching techniques affects their Students;
- promote a better understanding of the impact of educational technology on the link between teaching and learning and on the relationships between Faculty and Students; and
- explore the ways in which the interplay of Faculty's scholarly and teaching efforts advance the goals of Hofstra University as a center of higher education.
Toward these ends, the CTSE is developing a mechanism for the systematic collection and communication of information on the various components of the educational enterprise. The CTSE will engage in strategic evaluation research on programmatic efforts within the University that attempt to advance its goals in the areas of teaching and scholarship. The results of that research will be shared with the University community. Ultimately, the goal is to provide a basis for informed discourse and decision-making as Hofstra University seeks to promote excellence in both teaching and scholarship.
