Professor Vogel graduated from Widener University with a B.S. in civil engineering and later achieved his Professional Engineer's License from the State University of N.Y. He received a J.D. with honors from the St. John's University School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review and a contributor to the New York State Environmental Lawyer periodical. He is admitted to practice law in New York State and the federal Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

Professor Vogel has had numerous articles published in law reviews and well-known practitioner's journals in the areas of environmental law, litigation practice & skills, and evidenciary rules. He will be co-presenting a paper on the impact of Sarbanes-Oxley in regard to piercing the corporate veil with Department Chairperson Dr. Nathan Slavin at the Spring 2008, Northeast Decision Sciences Institute. Professor Vogel is currently researching and writing an article on the impact of several recent Supreme Court decisions on the area of securities litigation, as well as researching recent trends and changes in the area of teaching legal research and writing to business students.

At Hofstra, Professor Vogel is the academic advisor to the Legal Studies Club, will be teaching in the new full-time day honors MBA program in the fall of 2008, and occasionally teaches as an adjunct or special professor of law at the Hofstra Law School on the subjects of Litigation Skills and Appellate Advocacy. Prior to teaching at Hofstra, Professor Vogel was an adjunct at several local colleges and was the full-time Director of Litigation Education for Nixon Peabody, a large national law firm with over 700 attorneys nationwide. As the Director of Litigation Education, Prof. Vogel developed curriculum for junior and senior associates and partners, supervised the instruction of attorney education programs, and worked on the development of an new system for evaluating associate performance. Prior to his role as Director of Litigation Education, Professor Vogel practiced commerical litigation as an associate at Nixon Peabody for almost eight years. Prior to obtaining his law degree, Professor Vogel worked for almost a decade as a professional engineer for two private engineering firms and the City of New York in the area of environmental construction.

Professor Vogel is also an author of an early reader chapter book for kids titled: The Adventure Guys in the Chinese Bear-Cat Rescue and has appeared in various elementary schools across Long Island making author appearances. He is also the creator and owner of his own company - Junior JDs - and is the presenter of a program called the Trial of Goldilocks that has been the subject of articles in Newsday, and the Long Island Business News, stories on News 12 Long Island and TV55, and has been performed by more than 7000 kids across Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
