Bio: Dr. Guillermo G. Caliendo is an Assistant Professor of Communication and Culture at Hofstra University. His research focuses on the social formation of memory. More specifically, he is interested in how societies construct gender/sexuality and race/ethnicity from hegemonic and counter-hegemonic perspectives. His most recent publications include: “Diasporic Ethnic Identity: West African Migration and the Formation of Transcultural Hegemonic Memory in the European Union” and “Domesticated Identity: Same-Sex Marriage and the Memory Crisis of LGBT Political Activism.” Email: sphggc@hofstra.edu
