Background and Experience

Professor Evans originally worked in the banking industry. She was a member of the Academic Committee of the Ad Club Foundation for ten years, a member of the Long Island Advertising Club's steering committee to create a job and internship forum for Long Island companies and students for five years, and co-chair of the Hauppauge Industrial Association for four years. To facilitate her teaching professor Evans engaged in several professional internships with advertising agencies and this helped bring current strategic thinking back to the classroom. She also attended numerous faculty industry seminars in direct marketing, communications, and advertising. At these professional seminars professor Evans managed to network with executives from major advertising, media, and communication companies and this helps her to keep up to date on the latest trends in the advertising, marketing, and communication fields. At Hofstra she was the business advisor to the student newspaper, the Chronicle, until 2006. She started the Advertising Club almost 14 years ago and has been serving as the faculty advisor to the club since then. She has also arranged many trips for students to various ad agencies, media companies, and Google to give students a first-hand look at the real workings and corporate culture that different companies offer.
