Fall, Spring
Defining news and its importance in a democratic society; structure of news-gathering process; the elements of news; introduction to basic news reporting and writing for the Web, print and broadcast; use of the Internet as a reporting and research tool; accuracy and fairness as journalistic imperatives. Outside community research and reporting time is required.

 
Semester Hours: 3 
Prerequisites:

WSC 001 and 002, or permission of the instructor. Lab fees additional.
