Hofstra Online Graduate Programs Earn Top Rankings From U.S. News & World Report

Computer Science 10th best nation; Education, Business in Top 100

Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra University’s online graduate program in computer science is the 10th best in the nation, while its business and education online graduate programs rank in the top 100, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The university’s online M.S. in Computer Science, a 30-credit program, is one of only two New York programs to make the top ten. The online M.B.A. program offered by the Frank G. Zarb School of Business and launched in 2011, ranks 71st nationwide. It is the only online graduate business program in the New York metropolitan area to make the top 100. The School of Education’s MS.Ed in Higher Education Leadership and Studies was ranked 91st in the nation.

The magazine’s 2013 rankings for Best Online Education Programs, released this week, evaluated programs based on a number of factors, with the greatest weight given to how much interaction students have with classmates and professors, and faculty credentials and training.

Hofstra University began offering online classes in 2010, and now offers three fully-online graduate degree programs and two advanced certificate programs. More than 20 percent of the university faculty has taught an online course.

Hofstra University is a dynamic private institution of higher education where more than 11,000 full and part-time students choose from undergraduate and graduate offerings in liberal arts and sciences, business, engineering, applied science, communication, education, health sciences and human services, honors studies, the Maurice A. Deane School of Law and the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
