Hofstra Hillel Executive Director chosen to take part in international think-tank.

Rabbi Dave Siegel takes part as one of 10 Americans invited to program in Sweden.

Hofstra University, Hempstead NY – Rabbi Dave Siegel, executive director of Hofstra Hillel: The Center for Jewish Life on Campus, recently attended a prestigious five-day international program about communicating the Jewish faith and identity in a multi-cultural environment.

Siegel was one of just 20 people chosen to attend The Paideia Paradigm Program in Stockholm, Sweden. The program is aimed at introducing a new approach to understanding Jewish identity, based upon the need to define Judaism in multicultural settings.

Four renowned contemporary Jewish thinkers set out to expound their individual perspectives and interactively explore with participants the evolving nature of the conversation about Judaism in today’s open environments.

This exciting 5-day program brings to Stockholm, Sweden, a total of 20 American and European young professionals and entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds to participate in a transformative intercultural exercise – one that reflects a new paradigm for articulating the essentials of a Jewish world-view in a language that is comprehensible and meaningful, even to those without a prior knowledge of the Jewish lens on life.

Distinguished contemporary thinkers combine classic Jewish learning methods with innovative social programming creating an intense 5-day encounter between participants and scholars. The panel includes MK Ruth Calderon [Member of the Israeli Knesset and Founder of Alma College, Tel Aviv], Dr. Tova Hartman [Professor, Bar Ilan University], Jonathan Rosen [Noted essayist and author of The Talmud and the Internet, Eve's Apple, and Joy Comes in the Morning], and Fania Oz-Salzberger [Israeli historian, co-author of Jews and Words, and Professor, Univ. of Haifa].
