Online MBA Program Graduates First Class
Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York -- Hofstra University’s new online MBA program, launched in 2011 and ranked among the top such programs in the United States, graduated an inaugural class of 14 students this month.
The students, their families and their professors celebrated their graduation at a dinner the night before the formal commencement ceremony on May 19. More than two-thirds of the original class of 20 students completed the program in two years, the shortest time possible.
“It has been a fabulous two years with this group of students and the faculty members who have taught in this program have appreciated the students’ enthusiasm, performance and feedback,” said Dr. Kaushik Sengupta, Ph.D., the program’s director. “This inaugural cohort will always be special to us. I hope to engage them as alums of the program, and I have encouraged them to share their thoughts, learning and experience with future students in the program.”
The online program began with a focus on strategic business management and recently added a concentration in strategic health care management. It includes two four-day on-campus residences and a weeklong global practicum. The 48-credit online MBA can be completed in as little as two years, or a maximum of five years.
Hofstra’s online MBA program has earned top rankings from U.S. News & World Report, as well as Poets & Quants, a website devoted to covering graduate business programs run by a former executive editor of BusinessWeek. The program was identified as among the top 100 online graduate business programs in the nation in U.S. News & World Report's 2013 Best Online Program rankings - the only New York metro online MBA program to make the list. Poets & Quants ranks the Hofstra program 20th in the nation.
The program’s current class is 18 students, with a new class of 25 expected to begin studies in the fall of 2013.
Hofstra University is a dynamic private institution of higher education where more than 11,000 full and part-time students choose from undergraduate and graduate offerings in liberal arts and sciences, business, engineering, applied science, communication, education, health sciences and human services, honors studies, the Maurice A.
