Hofstra Launches New Program to Recognize Student Achievements
Merit Badge Program Promotes Student Success Online
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University is launching a new program to recognize student success that will award virtual merit badges for accomplishments ranging from athletic and academic achievements to community service and student leadership.
The Merit program, which began in June, is a new way to highlight student accomplishments such as graduation, making the dean’s list, becoming a member of an honor society or winning an award.
When a student is awarded a merit badge, a merit page is automatically created for the student with an image of the badge and a description of the achievement. The student receives an email with the badge and a link to their merit page. The email will come from the address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The badges can be shared on social media channels to tell your friends and family about your achievement. Students can customize their merit page with a picture, profile information and with other badges to represent their work experience, internships or club memberships.
A student’s merit page is public, and can be accessed by sharing your merit badges via social media or email. It can also be accessed through Hofstra University’s institutional merit page at http://hofstra.meritpages.com, which lists all achievement badges awarded by Hofstra.
Students can click a link at the bottom of their achievement email to stop receiving notifications about future merit badges. To opt-out entirely, students should click through the notification email to reach their Merit page and then click the “opt-out” link on the bottom of their page. If you have any questions about the merit program, email us at email@example.com.
