See The Manhattan Dolls in "Sentimental Journey" at Hofstra University
Presented by The Gray Wig Alumni Theater Company, in Association With Hofstra Entertainment
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Take a journey back in time and enjoy an evening of music celebrating the 1930s and 1940s with The Manhattan Dolls, presented by Hofstra University’s Gray Wig Alumni Theater Company in association with Hofstra Entertainment. The performance, titled Sentimental Journey, will feature a salute to our country’s honored veterans. Songs include timeless classics such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “In the Mood,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “New York, New York,” and “God Bless America.”
Show dates and times are 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, January 27 and 28, 2012; and 7 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Hofstra University’s Helene Fortunoff Theater, Monroe Lecture Center, California Avenue South Campus. Tickets are $25, $23 senior citizens (over 65 with ID), $20 matriculated non-Hofstra students with ID. Members of the Hofstra community may purchase one ticket for $15 upon presentation of a current HofstraCard. The Manhattan Dolls are a New York City based 1940s swing-style female vocal trio with the sound of The Andrews Sisters. Started by former USO Girls, The Dolls travel the world performing for military events, air shows, award ceremonies, parades, jazz clubs, concert series, you name it! They have been featured on BBC Radio London and most recently on The Tucson Morning Blend Morning Show in Arizona. They have had the pleasure of performing with a number of famous bands, including The Jive Aces in the UK and The Stan Rubin Orchestra in NYC. The Manhattan Dolls are constantly touring the U.S. and abroad.
