HOFSTRA CHEERLEADERS PLACE FIRST AT UCA NATIONAL COMPETITION

Second consecutive national title for Hofstra’s Cheer Team

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University's Small Co-Ed Cheerleading Team has taken top honors at the UCA National Cheerleading Competition at Disney World, Orlando, FL for the second year in a row. For the past four years the Pride Cheerleaders have ranked in the Nation's Top 10 and won the Small Co-ed Championship title in 2003, 2006 and now 2007.

The Hofstra Cheerleading program is nationally recognized and promotes school spirit for Hofstra athletic teams such as football, men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball games. They also perform at University festivals, admissions events, and morning TV news shows.

Hofstra's Dance Team also placed third in the Hip Hop program and eighth in the Dance Program at the competition. The HU Dance Team has developed into one of the premier college dance programs in the United States. In 2006 they competed in the UDA National Dance Team held in Orlando, Florida, and placed 1st in the Division I Hip-Hop category.

The Hofstra Dance Team has been nationally ranked for the past twelve years and has been in the top five in their categories for eight of those years. The team has also competed locally and is ranked #1 among colleges on Long Island.
