Hofstra's Rosenberg Gallery Presents "Presidential Targets"

Exhibit Examines A History of Political Violence in America

Michael Tong Presidential Targets
Through March 30, 2011

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … The Rosenberg Gallery is presenting a sculpture exhibit by Michael Tong, titled Presidential Targets- A History of Political Violence in America.

Mr. Tong has constructed a collection in steel of the faces of four assassinated United States Presidents: Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy. Completed in 2010, this piece is as much about gun culture as it is Mr. Tong’s response to the political climate in America today. Mr. Tong notes that when political change is attempted, conservative protests grow angry and an anti-government message often begets violence.

The exhibit will run through March 30, 2011.  The gallery is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Rosenberg Gallery is part of the Department of Fine Arts and Art History of Hofstra University and is located in Calkins Hall, room 130.

For more information contact Dan Devine at 516-463-5474 or -5379.

All shows at the Rosenberg Gallery are free and open to the public. The gallery is ADA compliant.
