Hofstra University to host a Women in Career Transition Conference

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Returning to the workforce? Trying to decide your next career move? Hofstra University Continuing Education is sponsoring a “Women in Career Transition:  Possibilities, Opportunities and Strategies” conference on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center, North Campus.

The conference will provide women of all ages with strategies on how to establish a plan of action that will smoothly transition them into the next phase of their life. The day begins at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast followed by a keynote address from Judy Martin, News 12 Long Island, a panel discussion, luncheon, two breakout sessions and closing remarks.

Keynote Address, "Personal Branding: Standing Out in a Challenging Job Market:"

Judy Martin, Emmy-award winning broadcast journalist, speaker and work/life strategist.  

 
Ms. Martin offers a fresh voice on the emerging trends impacting the way individuals work and do business. She speaks about the evolving culture of awareness during her lecture and radio series, a Work/Life Nation, and writes about the topic on her blog. As a media trainer and executive coach specializing in stress reduction, Judy works with individuals and businesses to align their core values with their business message.

Panelists include life and career coaches:

Kathy Caprino, work-life expert and author of Breakdown, Breakthrough: The Professional Woman's Guide to Claiming a Life of Passion, Power and Purpose.

Ms. Caprino is a writer, speaker on women's issues, trained psychotherapist, and a specialized career and life coach. She is also founder and president of Ellia Communications, Inc., a firm that offers transformational coaching for working women. Today Ms. Caprino conducts seminars in the areas of women's empowerment, overcoming adversity in the workplace and navigating successfully through transition.

Valentina Janek, founder and president of the Long Island Breakfast Club.

Ms. Janek founded the Long Island Breakfast Club in 2006, an organization providing advocacy, support, career and employment counseling to prepare mature individuals for productive employment. She also works on numerous initiatives and charitable boards in the New York area striving for community advocacy and education for mature individuals. A strong advocate for people in transition, she works as a personal coach for people who reach mid-life career changes.

Annemarie Segaric, nationally respected career coach and author of Step into the Right Career: 107 Tips to Change Your Life While Still Paying the Bills.

Ms. Segaric runs the Career Changer Company, advising employed professionals, recently unemployed individuals, those re-entering the workforce and hundreds of people in career transition. As part of her coaching practice, Segaric offers workshops, keynote talks and a popular career changer blog.
