Hofstra University Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic At the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center Spring 2010 Groups

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … The Hofstra University Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic at the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center is now offering group sessions for Spring 2010.

Mondays

Teen Talk
February 22 to April 19
5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
A weekly psychoeducationl group for teens facing a variety of developmental issues.

Tuesdays

Divorce Support Group
March 2 to April 20
7 to 8:30 p.m.
A weekly psychoeducational group for individual adults going through divorce, who need support through this emotional process.

Caring for Caregivers
March 2 to April 20
7 to 8:30 p.m.
A weekly psychoeducational group for men and women in caregiving roles. 

Wednesdays

Children of Divorce Group
March 3 to April 21
6 to 7:30 p.m.
A weekly group for children of divorce with groups for ages 8-12 and ages 13-18.

Domestic Violence Support Group
March 3 to April 21
6:30 to 8 p.m.
A weekly psychoeducational/support group for women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence in their relationships.

Couples/Intimacy Group
March 3 to April 21
Evenings
A weekly psychoeducational group for couples that want to strengthen and develop their relationship. Workshop topics include “Dispelling Sexual Myths Workshop” (March 10, 7 to 9 p.m.), “Take Control of Your Sexual Self Workshop” (March 18, 6 to 8 p.m.); “Get Tuned Into Your Partner Workshop” (April 8, 6 to 8 p.m.); and “What Attracts Us To Our Partners Workshop” (April 14, 6 to 8 p.m.).

This group is designed to assist individuals and families working in a family business. Learn about the interpersonal behaviors and workings of people who are part of the family run organization or work for the family business. Whether you are part of the management family, or work for the family business, this group will enable you to understand and apply the knowledge necessary to increase effective communication and better working environment within the family business.

Women Empowerment Group

7:30 to 8:50 p.m.
This weekly psychoeducational group focuses on empowering women and increasing self-esteem.

A weekly psychoeducational group focusing on parenting skills. Delivered in English and Spanish.

Girl Talk: Mother-Daughter Group
March 4 to April 22
6 to 7:30 p.m.
Mothers and daughters come together to build relationships and talk about issues in this weekly group.

Saturdays

Effective Parenting and Discipline
February 19 to May 8
10:30 a.m. to noon
This weekly psychoeducational group focuses on parenting skills.

All groups are held at the Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic, located at the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center, located on Hofstra’s South Campus, off of Oak Street.
