Former Attorney General John to AAshcroft ddress the Hofstra Community
Mr. Ashcroft to speak on “Leadership in Challenging Times”
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University and Hofstra University’s College Republicans will proudly host former United States Attorney General John Ashcroft on March 20, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse.
Mr. Ashcroft’s speaking address, “Leadership in Challenging Times,” will focus on the leadership and conviction required to make tough decisions and implement historic policy. During his time in President Bush’s administration, Mr. Ashcroft has been credited with overseeing a historic era of safety and security for our country in the wake of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Under his leadership, the Justice Department initiated a tough anti-terrorism campaign, took criminals off the street, reduced gun crime, and targeted illegal drugs.
Immediately following Mr. Ashcroft’s address their will be a book signing of his recent published book Never Again: Securing America and Restoring Justice. The book will be available for purchase prior to Mr. Ashcroft’s speaking address at the Hofstra University Book Store and also after the address at the book signing. Books can be purchased by credit card, cash or check only.
In Never Again: Securing America and Restoring Justice, Mr. Ashcroft breaks his silence about historic events that transpired during his term of office, including the largest terrorist attack in U.S. history, the enactment and defense of the Patriot Act, the Robert Hanssen spy scandal, the execution of Timothy McVeigh, and the recently discovered domestic surveillance program authorized by President Bush.
This event is sponsored by Hofstra University’s College Republicans, the President’s Office, the Provost’s Office, the Dean of Students Office, Hofstra University’s Students For Life, Residential Student Association, Student Government Association and Young America’s Foundation.
Admission is free and open to the Hofstra community only, including current and past students with a valid Hofstra ID, faculty, administrators and employees. Please come early as seating is limited. For more information email hofstracollegerepublicans@yahoo.com.
