Scott Rechler to be honored at Hofstra Gala

RexCorp CEO, Chairman to be feted at May 1 annual scholarship fundraiser at Hofstra

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Scott Rechler, chief executive officer and chairman of RexCorp Realty LLC, a multi-billion dollar private real estate company, will be honored at the annual Hofstra University Gala on May 1, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, North Campus. 

The annual gala raises money for the Hofstra Scholarship Fund. Last year’s event raised more than $1.3 million.

Mr. Rechler is a longtime friend to and supporter of Hofstra University, currently serving on the President’s Leadership Council and the Hofstra University Honors College Advisory Board. He was also the keynote speaker at the “Redeveloping Long Island in the 21st Century” seminar at Hofstra in November 2006, sponsored by the Institute of Real Estate at Hofstra University.

Mr. Rechler’s company, RexCorp, was formed subsequent to the merger of Reckson Associates Realty Corp with SL Green, one of the largest public real estate management buyouts in REIT history. Mr. Rechler’s vision and leadership guided Reckson, where he served as chief executive officer and chairman of the board during its years of dynamic growth throughout Long Island, New Jersey, New York City, Westchester and Connecticut, overseeing in excess of $6 billion in acquisitions and developments and managing over 20 million square feet of commercial property in New York’s Tri-State Area. Mr. Rechler’s real estate acumen and entrepreneurial spirit delivered stellar returns to investors including a 715% total return to the Reckson shareholders.

Mr. Rechler was at Reckson from 1989 until January 2007 and served as president, chief executive officer, and member of Reckson’s Board of Directors since its formation, as well as the chairman of the Board’s Executive Committee. Mr. Rechler was the architect of Reckson’s successful IPO in 1995. He is chairman and CEO of Reckson New York Property Trust (ASX: RNY), a public real estate company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, and is a member of the Board of Directors of American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE:ACC).

Mr. Rechler is actively involved with the Real Estate Roundtable, for which he is a member of the Board of Directors and co-chair of its Political Action Committee.

Mr. Rechler prides himself on enhancing the communities where RexCorp operates. As such,
Mr. Rechler serves as a board member of the Association for a Better Long Island, Board member of the Association for a Better New York, as well as the NYU Real Estate Institute Advisory Committee. In addition, Mr. Rechler serves on the board of many of the regions top cultural institutions such as the Tribeca Film Institute and the Long Island Children’s Museum, where he is the board’s co-chair.

Mr. Rechler is a graduate of Clark University. He also earned a Masters of Finance from New York University.
