Hofstra's Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic at the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center Presents Spring 2008 Workshop Schedule
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Clinic at Hofstra University’s Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center has announced their workshop schedule for the Spring 2008. The fee to participate is $15 per couple or family. For more information or to register call the MFT Clinic at (516) 463-5234.
Mondays
11 a.m. to noon: Chronic Illness Spousal Support Group. This weekly therapy group is designed for spouses of individuals with chronic illness. This group is scheduled to meet every Monday, through the end of Hofstra’s academic year in May.
1 to 2 p.m. or 7 to 8 p.m.: Effective Parenting and Discipline. This weekly therapy group alternates between psychoeducational workshops and group therapy sessions, focused on parenting skills and discipline. These groups are scheduled to meet every Monday in March.
6:30 to 8 p.m. Child and Adult Bereavement Groups. This weekly group is run every six weeks and works on overcoming loss and grief. Groups meet March 31; April 7, 14, 21, 28; and May 5.
Tuesdays
6:30 to 8 p.m.: Midlife Women’s Group. Midlife crisis or midlife opportunity? Join other women to discuss this dynamic period. This group is scheduled to meet every Tuesday through April 8.
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Families with Children with Autism Psychoeducational Group. Learn more about autism and its effects on the family with informational discussions and presentations. Meetings scheduled for March 25; April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; May 6 and 13.
Wednesdays
6:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Girl Talk – Mother-Daughter Group. Mothers and daughters build relationships and talk about issues in this weekly group. This group is scheduled to meet every Wednesday through April 9.
7:30 to 9 p.m.: Premarital Couples Group. Couples considering marriage or long-term commitment learn communication skills and how to strengthen their relationships. This group is scheduled to meet every Wednesday through April 9.
7 to 8:30 p.m. Caring for Caregivers. For men and women in caregiving roles. This group is scheduled to meet every Wednesday through April 9.
Thursdays
6:30 to 8 p.m. Divorce Support Group. Run concurrently with the Children of Divorce Group, this group focuses on the emotional process of divorce. This group is scheduled to meet every Thursday through April 10.
Saturdays
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Women Empowerment Group. Join other women in this group focused on empowering women and increasing self-esteem. This group is scheduled to meet every Saturday through March 29.
12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Families with Children with Autism Support Group. This weekly support group will bring together families that are raising children with autism. Group is scheduled to meet March 29; April 5, 12, 19, 26; May 3, 10 and 17.
1 to 2:30 p.m. Couples and Intimacy Group. For couples who want to strengthen and develop their relationship. This group is scheduled to meet every Saturday through April 19.
