Norman Podhoretz to Speak at Hofstra

Former Commentary Magazine Editor-In-Chief will discuss "World War IV?: Islamofacism, American Foreign Policy, and the Elections of 2008"

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Former Commentary Magazine Editor-In-Chief Norman Podhoretz will speak at Hofstra University on Wednesday, March, 26, 2008 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Monroe Lecture Center Theater location, California Avenue, south campus. The lecture is sponsored by Professional Organization in Speech Education (P.O.I.S.E.), the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and the School of Communication.

Norman Podhoretz, a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, served as editor-in-chief of Commentary Magazine from 1960-1995 and currently is editor-at-large. He is the author of ten books including The Prophets; Who They Were, What They Are, The Bloody Crossroads: Where Literature and Politics Meet, Why We Were in Vietnam, and Breaking Ranks: A Political Memoir.  Mr. Podhoertz has also written hundreds of articles for most major American periodicals and lectured numerous times on foreign policy, American culture, and Jewish affairs.

Recently, Mr. Podhoretz has attracted media attention with the publication of his latest book titled World War IV: The Long Struggle Against Islamofascism. In this book, he strongly advocates for a more interventionist U.S. Foreign Policy in order to ensure “America’s global leadership”.

Mr. Podhoretz was a Pulitzer Scholar at Columbia University and also holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Cambridge University, England where he was a Fulbright Scholar and Kellett Fellow. In addition he has a Bachelor’s degree in Hebrew Literature from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
