HOFSTRA CULTURAL CENTER PRESENTS SPRING 2008 ITALIAN-AMERICAN EXPERIENCE LECTURE SERIES

"Bravo, Pavarotti!" Thursday Evenings at 8 p.m.

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … The Hofstra Cultural Center presents its Spring 2008 Italian-American Experience Lecture Series with the theme Bravo, Pavarotti! to commemorate the life and talent of the famed opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti (1935 to 2007), considered by many in opera and popular music to be one of the most important vocalists of our time. These lectures will take place on Thursdays at 8 p.m. at the Guthart Cultural Center Theater, located on the first floor of the Axinn Library, South Campus. Admission to all lectures in the series is free.

March 27
Pavarotti vs. Caruso

By Aldo Mancusi, Cavaliere Ufficiale, founder and creator of the Enrico Caruso Museum of America in Brooklyn, NY.

April 17
“Pavarotti: An Appreciation of His Art and Influence”

By Michael Spierman, artistic director of The Bronx Opera Company. He will be accompanied by singers and a pianist from The Bronx Opera Company.

May 8
“Pavarotti as an Actor”

By John DiGaetani, professor of English, Hofstra University, and author of Carlo Gozzi, Puccini the Thinker and An Invitation to the Opera.

The Spring 2008 Italian-American Experience Lecture Series is directed by Hofstra University Professor of History Stanislao Pugliese, Hofstra Cultural Center Fellow.
