Maureen Dowd and William Kristol to Speak at Hofstra

New York Times columnists will discuss "Issues, Parties and the Media: The 2008 Election Landscape"

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY –New York Times columnists Maureen Dowd and William Kristol will speak at Hofstra University on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the John Cranford Adams Playhouse, South Campus. The lecture is sponsored by The President’s Educate ’08 Event Series.

Maureen Dowd, winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for distinguished commentary, became a columnist on The New York Times Op-Ed page in 1995 after having served as a correspondent in the paper’s Washington bureau since 1986. She has covered four presidential campaigns and served as White House correspondent. She also wrote a column, On Washington, for The New York Times Magazine.  

William Kristol is editor of the Washington-based political magazine, The Weekly Standard. He is recognized as one of the nation’s leading political analysts and commentators and regularly appears Fox News Sunday and FOX News Channel. He is co-author of The New York Times bestseller The War Over Iraq and has edited the well-received anthology The Weekly Standard, A Reader: 1995-2005. In 2007 he was a regular columnist for TIME magazine and in January 2008 became a regular Op-Ed page columnist for The New York Times. Mr. Kristol also served as chief of staff to Vice President Dan Quayle during the Bush administration, and to Secretary of Education William Bennett under President Ronald Reagan.
