Hofstra Presents 2009 Fine Arts Student Art Show

May 6 to 10, 2009

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … See hundreds of works in painting, drawing, ceramics, 3-D, photography, design and new media at the opening of the Fine Arts Student Art Show at Calkins Hall on Hofstra's South Campus. The show opens (with free music and refreshments) at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Dr. Bernard J. Firestone, dean of Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Science, will give welcoming remarks.

Also on May 6, the Department of Fine Arts, Art History and Humanities will celebrate “Calkins Renaissance Day,” showcasing the building’s new photography, sculpture, ceramics and design studios. There will be a tour of the new studios at 12:15 p.m.

The Fine Arts Student Art Show will remain on view until Sunday, May 10.

Hofstra Fine Arts alumna Nicole Barth, Class of 2005, will serve as the outside judge for this year’s student art show. Ms. Barth received an M.F.A. in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design and is currently working as an interactive designer for FoodNetwork.com.
