Zarb School of Business presents its annual conference, "Stock Exchange Competition and International Listings," on Monday, May 5, 2008.

The conference will bring together practitioners, policy makers and academics to discuss issues relating to the recent competition among international stock exchanges, the organizational and ownership consolidation that is taking place and the patterns and value of international listings. Within this broad framework, the conference aims to highlight the impact of regulation, corporate governance, accounting and listing standards, trading mechanics, and value benefits to corporations and investors.

The conference begins with an Executive Breakfast featuring Keynote Speaker Richard G. Ketchum, speaking on "Reflections of a Regulator in Challenging Times," from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Hofstra University Club, David S. Mack Hall, North Campus.

Mr. Ketchum, 56, has been chief executive officer of NYSE Regulation, Inc., since 2006. He is a member of the NYSE Regulation board of directors, a non-executive chairman of the board of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and chairman of the regulatory committee of the World Federation of Exchanges. Starting on March 8, 2004, Mr. Ketchum served as the first chief regulatory officer of the New York Stock Exchange. From June 2003 to March 2004, he was general counsel of the Corporate and Investment Bank of Citigroup Inc., and a member of the unit's planning group, Business Practices Committee and Risk Management Committee. Previously, he spent 12 years at NASD and the NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc., where he served as president of both organizations. Prior to working at NASD and NASDAQ, Mr. Ketchum was at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for 14 years, eight as director of the division of Market Regulation. He earned a J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1975 and a B.A. from Tufts University in 1972. He is a member of the bar in both New York and the District of Columbia.

The conference program starts at 9:45 a.m. in the Scott Skodnek Business Development Center, Room 246, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, South Campus and features a keynote luncheon address by Andrew Karolyi, Ph.D., Charles R. Webb Professor of Finance, Fisher College of Business, Ohio State University, on "Is New York Really Losing its Competitive Advantage in Global Capital Markets?"
