Peter S. Kalikow ’65, ’86 to be honored at Annual Hofstra Gala Tonight
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY –
WHAT: Annual Hofstra Gala.
WHO: Peter S. Kalikow, ’65, ’86, will be honored. Among those participating are co-chairs Hofstra Trustee David S. Mack, ’67, and former U.S. Sen. Alfonse D’Amato.
WHEN: TONIGHT, Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 7 p.m.
WHERE: David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, North Campus.
WHY: Peter Kalikow endowed the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency and the Peter S. Kalikow Endowed Chair in Presidential Studies a Hofstra. He also was a sponsor of the third and final presidential debate at Hofstra in October 2008.
The annual Gala is Hofstra’s largest fund-raiser and benefits the Hofstra Scholarship Fund. Last year’s event, attended by some 700 alumni and friends of the university, raised $1.2 million.
Mr. Kalikow is president of H.J. Kalikow & Company, LLC, one of New York City's leading real estate firms, a former chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), a former commissioner of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, the former owner and publisher of the New York Post and an active participant in real estate industry associations.
He is a trustee of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In May 1997, the Peter and Mary Kalikow Pediatric Intensive Care Unit was established at New York Hospital. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the New York Holocaust Museum and has served on the board of directors of the Jewish National Fund.
