SPEND THE EARLY SUMMER DANCING

HOFSTRA'S DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA AND DANCE OFFERS TAP AND MODERN DANCE OVER SUMMER SESSION I (MAY 23 TO JUNE 26)

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY ... Whether you are hoping to someday perform on stage or simply want to get into better shape during the summer months, consider joining Hofstra University's Department of Drama and Dance for courses in either modern dance or tap, both geared for novice dancers as well as those who plan to pursue additional studies in dance performance. These classes will be held during Hofstra's Summer Session I, from May 23 to June 26, 2007.

In Modern Dance 1A, section 1, students will learn about the art of modern dance through dancing to live music, with a focus on alignment and body awareness. This is a class for non-dance majors. Students may earn two credits. It is held from 8:45 to 10:55 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Dance 040, section 1, Tap Dance is a multi-level class, meaning it is for those who have always wanted to tap dance and also for experienced tappers too. Both non-dance and dance majors are welcome. Students may earn two credits. It is held 11 a.m. to 1:10 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Both courses are taught by Anita Feldman, who has been teaching dance at Hofstra for the last 12 years, following many years of teaching in New York City, and a professional modern and tap dance career.  A Port Washington, NY, resident, Professor Feldman has performed widely in the United States, Japan and Germany at such venues as the American Dance Festival in Durham North Carolina, the Boston Dance Umbrella, Dance Theater Workshop, the Whitney Museum, the Village Gate, Seibu's Studio 200 in Tokyo and Podewil in Berlin. Her book Inside Tap is published by Princeton Book Company.
