2008 STEP Scholarship Carnival to Take Place May 24

Multipurpose Room, Mack Student Center

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra University's Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) has scheduled a carnival at the Multipurpose Room, located in the Mack Student Center on Hofstra's North Campus, on Saturday, May 24, 2008, from noon to 4 p.m. The carnival will raise funds for student participation in the STEP program and help to promote STEP activities to the surrounding community.

The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) at Hofstra aims to increase the number of historically underrepresented students seeking careers in science and technology, and pre-licensure professions. STEP enrolls middle and high school students in the surrounding community.

The May 24th carnival will consist of  many children’s games and activities. Admission is $1 and each game ticket is 50 cents. HOT 97 radio will emcee the event.

This STEP fundraiser has been planned in collaboration with parents and guardians of program participants, who will also serve as volunteers at the carnival.  They have formed the group Parent Involvement in Education, a STEP subgroup.
