Hofstra Entertainment Presents "Moon Over Buffalo"
July 11 to 27, 2008; Monroe Lecture Center TheaterHofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra Entertainment begins a stellar 2008 summer season with Ken Ludwig's comedy Moon Over Buffalo, a backstage peek at the crazy-mad world of "theater people" and those who love them! The play will run Friday, July 11, through Sunday, July 27, at the Hofstra University’s Monroe Lecture Center Theater, located on the South Campus off of California Avenue.
According to Ken Ludwig's Web site, Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s, who are playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George's dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might have a final shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter's clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they're actually performing, caused by Charlotte's deaf old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George's body.
Moon Over Buffalo presents a crazy course of hilarious hijinks, featuring slamming doors, mistaken identities, pratfalls and the neverending battle between the sexes.
Show times are Friday, July 11, 18, 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, July 12, 19, 26 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, July 13, 20, 27 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25; $23 for senior citizens (over 65) and $15 for matriculated non-Hofstra students with ID.
